Packing a nourishing lunch can do more than just fill your kiddie’s tummy - it can support their focus, energy, and immune system all day long. The key is balance and variety, not perfection. Keep these ideas handy to make nutritious lunches throughout the rest of the summer and for the back-to-school season.
Foundational Four
Every lunch should include
Protein for steady energy (e.g., eggs, chicken, beans, lentils, yogurt, cheese, turkey slices)
Healthy fats for brain function (e.g., salmon, avocado, seed butters, olive oil drizzle)
Carbs for balance and energy (e.g., whole grain toast, quinoa, brown rice)
Fruits and/or veggies for antioxidants and immune support (e.g., berries, sliced apple, chopped peppers, snap peas)
Balanced Lunchbox Ideas
I love bento boxes because they allow for simplicity and variety, and they encourage parents to include multiple food groups. Kids also like them because they are visually appealing - who wouldn’t love to see a colourful, organized lunch?!
Bento box lunch Ideas
Whole wheat tortilla wraps with rotisserie chicken, hummus & cucumber, blueberries
Pasta salad with chopped cucumber, tomatoes & mozzarella, sliced pear, and seed butter
Quinoa salad with chickpeas, chopped veggies of choice, yogurt pack, sliced apples

Packing lunch doesn’t need to be perfect - just consistent, colourful and whole-food focused! As a Naturopathic Doctor, I am here to help you and your little ones meet your nutritional needs. Book a free discovery call to see how we can work together.
